What is a fungicide?
Fungicides are pesticides that kill or prevent the growth of fungi and their spores. They are used to control fungi that damage plants, trees, shrubs, and turf grasses. Some examples of fungus or diseases in Oklahoma are rust, mildew, blight, brown patch, dollar spot, and Spring dead spots, to name a few.
Why do I need a fungicide?
If you have a disease or fungus in the lawn, you will need a fungicide to help control the spread of the disease. Depending on the type of turf grass you have in the lawn, you may need to put down a fungicide to help prevent future disease and fungus. We highly recommend applying two fungicides per year. Once in the Spring and once during early Fall.

Examples:
Spring Dead Spot:
Most commonly seen in Bermuda turf grasses. They will start to show during Spring as the Bermuda comes out of dormancy. A granular Winterizer during Late Fall will help prevent this disease.
Brown Patch disease:
Brown patch or brown spot is the most damaging disease for Bermuda turf grasses however brown patch disease will affect warm season and cool season grasses. A fungicide in the Fall will help to prevent this disease.
Dollar Spot:
Tiny spots and easy to over-look. Significant damage as it attacks all the way to the root. Must have a fungicide in Spring and Fall to help control.
